brief interlude in the cold

tonight i made turkey pot pie.
i roasted butternut squash, parsnips and carrots. added peas.
chopped broccoli and celery. added turkey leftovers. and biscuits!
not to mention: onions, garlic, thyme and rosemary. celery salt. pepper.
it was delicious. could have used a touch more seasoning.
but the broccoli and celery were just crisp enough because i didn't cook them before putting them in. and the entire thing had a lovely, faint flavor of turkey. and beautifully colored.

the snow is gone. the wind is here.

that aside, i love that every couple of weeks my cats find a new favorite sleeping spot. the seasonal favorite of milo's is in front of the heating vent, despite his abundant fur and fluff and fat. these days aesop sleeping atop the picnic basket.
